The event went swimmingly! Mermaid Aurora and Mermaid Serena were so sweet and engaging with the children. Ruby loved being able to sit between her two mermaid pals while her friends gathered around to hear stories and learn about sea creatures. All of the parents were really impressed when Mermaid Aurora and Mermaid Serena started with the balloon animals, glitter makeovers and glitter tattoos. Everyone had a splashing good time thanks to them!

Everything was amazing, thank you! Serena was magical and absolutely went above and beyond to make sure my little one had a fantastic birthday! All the other little girls loved her as well (just got a text from one of the moms about how much her girl loved er)!

About Serena:

On a warm spring Friday morning, a beautiful baby with hair as gold as the sun and big almond shaped brown eyes was born in the coastal city of Barranquilla, Colombia.  Before she could even go to school, Serena, which later became her chosen mermaid name, was swimming around the waters of the Atlantic ocean beaches near her home, holding her breath underwater like a dolphin in the sea and splashing around like a baby seal that just learned how to use their flippers. Serena, who was very different from the rest of the other children at her school, was unfortunately bullied growing up. She wanted to conform and be like everyone else in hopes to blend in but her true nature was such a big part of herself, she could not help it. Serena decided instead of hiding who she really was, she would use her natural talent for swimming and love of water to join her school swim team. There, Serena realized she was one with the water, soaring like a bird in the sky, her legs could kick so fast and in sync she would burst through the waves and make her family proud with every medal and trophy she won at her swimming competitions.

Even though swimming made Serena so happy, she was still struggling with herself. Something was missing, she needed to find her true path in life and become who she was meant to be.

After years of exploring the coastal waters of Barranquilla and getting to know so many beautiful sea creatures like the pink dolphins of the Amazon River, the immense and colorful coral reef cities and the iconic lionfish in the Atlantic Ocean, Serena and her family moved to the enchanted sunny state of Florida in the United States, where Serena found herself more and more driven to liberate her true identity and find her calling. This time, the blue and warm waters of Tampa Bay became her second home, where she made new aquatic friends like the manta rays and the native sea turtles.

As the years went by, Serena felt her essence was starting to fade and her dreams of becoming her true self appeared to be a more distant reality. Nothing seemed to make Serena happy anymore, not her aquatic friends, not swimming around, not even water itself made her smile anymore. Serena had reached rock bottom, she was losing all hope. But then she remembered she had so much love to give, so much knowledge to share and so much life to live! and just like that, one magical day Serena the Siren was born! Her now beautiful brown hair grew long and luscious, her skin more radiant and soft, her eyes would shine as bright at the sun and her legs turned into the most beautiful mermaid tail that finally matched who she really was inside.

Thanks to her family and friends, like Bill, the handsome prince of Bay Shore who always stood by her side during her transformation, Serena was able to grow into the most amazing mermaid she had ever dreamed of. After a few years of living her true life as Serena the Siren, she knew her calling as a friend of the sea was not over, so Serena decided to move all the way to the Pacific Ocean near the coast of California.

Her passion as a mermaid was to help others understand the true beauty of every sea creature, no matter how big or small. She wanted everyone to know, even if you’re different, that we all deserve to be treated equally with love and respect. Serena has now found a new family of mermaids here in Southern California and is so excited to work and share alongside them all the beauty and magic of mermaid life and the sea.
